First post here. Thanks Steve for the invite!
Question: Do any of you old timers have any information on the old Star Reloaders. I believe their of a heavy construction, and pretty much caliber specific. Mainly used for pistol loads, and I have been told quality wise, their inline with/or excede that of the Dillon. Have an opertunity to maybe pick one up, from a bunch of stuff donated to our gun club.

Thank's

Phil

Years ago when I was shooting competitely owned and used alot a big Star progressive.I had gotten it used from a friend of mine and will tell ya it was a top notch reloader. I do know they were very very expensive new.Calibers could be changed (also expensive) I would rate the one I had as better than any Dillon I have seen. And finally that machine could chuck out more finished carts in less time than any other brand I've ever used or witnessed being used. If ya can get ur hands on one and ur loading massive quantities of same cal. you won't find a better one.. Hope this helps Handcannon

The Star is, undoubtly, one of the best loaders ever made. I have used them for over 20 years and currently own one in .38 Spl. It is calibre specific, but otherwise, not a problem. I also use a Dillon 550, but it can't match the Star. If you can buy it at a good price, do so.

I have a Star that is interchangable from 45 cal. to 38 cal. The only problem with the Star is that parts, powder bars etc. are expensive and there is usually a long wait to get your parts. They are fine machines and well worth the money. I also have a Dillon which it top of the line for both rifle and pistol. A lot friendlier when wanting to change powder or charge... Good luck
