3/20/08
ESPN2 shark series recognized in nature/wildlife and videography categories
ATLANTA, GEORGIA – Quiznos Madfin Shark Series, the most dangerous catch and release, light tackle shark fishing series on TV, was recently honored with two national awards for excellence in television programming. The series received a silver Telly Award in the nature/wildlife category and a bronze Telly Award in the videography/cinematography category. The Telly Awards honor the very best local, regional and cable television programs and commercials, as well as the finest video and film production and work created for the Web.
“We are extremely proud that out of all the incredible television programming out there, the Quiznos Madfin Shark Series was chosen as one of the best,” said Jamie Sims, senior vice president of media services at Career Sports & Entertainment, the agency that produces the series. “We take immense pride in the incredible level of work by our producers and cameramen, and this award truly recognizes the innovation, creativity and dedication of our team.”
“ESPN2 Outdoors viewers are always looking for unique on-the-water content and Madfin certainly delivers,” said Jerry Vaillancourt, producer, ESPN Outdoors. "We are pleased that Madfin has received some deserved recognition."
The Quiznos Madfin Shark Series is a winner-take-all competition that features seven two-person teams fishing the waters of the Florida Keys in an attempt to catch and release a variety of sharks over the course of three days. Teams earn points depending on the type of shark caught and released, and bonus points are awarded for proper hook removal. The teams with the lowest point totals are eliminated after each day, and the highest-scoring team on the tournament’s final day becomes the Quiznos Madfin Shark Series champion.
The third season of the Quiznos Madfin Shark Series will be filming in the waters of the Florida Keys March 19-21 and will begin airing on ESPN2 in April. For more information, visit www.MadfinSharkSeries.com (http://www.madfinsharkseries.com/).
