I think it is because the asians now immigrating to the US are very aggressive and mercenary in their efforts to gain wealth, presitge and power.

I, being of asian ancestry am ashamed of the current level of ethics. I hope they throw the book at them and maybe ship them back to where they came from!

It is a universal issue regardless, of race. However, there are trends one can find if you were look at the demographics of who is found doing what. Can you say, well it's those so and so's from (fill in country of choice). In, a strictly statistical sense, you probably can. Can you say it as a broad statement as being representative of that entire group, of course not. Can you say it and not sound bigoted?? Not really, not without a lot of conditional modifiers before during and after the statement.

Traditionally, new arrivals to this country have difficulty with many aspects of game laws. They have done sting operations at Puddingstone in San Dimas in the past. They find groups guys with nets herding fish into the lake arms in the middle of the night. In the past the bulk of them have had Asian surnames.

The concept of catch and release is an entirely Western one and is very foreign to those that come from places where harvest quotas and restrictions methods of take are non-existent. Most will learn and accept rules after being here a while.

Up here, they have similar problems with nets for salmon/steelhead in creeks. and up here it has varied from your basic European stock, to Russian, to Asian, to Hispanic. Really depends on who has shown up last. But, like I said, most all will adjust and stay legal. Sadly, there are a number that don't comply and willingly take a criminal route.

I can say that up here when a fish bomb is found in a river, or someone has a freezer full of illegally snagged steelhead, it's most likely a white guy. You have better than 85% chance it's a person of pallor.

One of my and other's beef is the degree of leniency that has been given to those who have violated game laws that are of other cultures. The "They didn't know and it's legal where they come from" excuse is used a lot by attorneys and has worked fairly well, historically.

actually in CA there more poaching of sturgeon done by russian persons. what we usually see are persons of asian decent catching the fish and then selling them to russians. the russians use the rowe to make cavier. the big push is because of the lack of sturgeon from there home countries has really pushed many to the good population of sturgeons here in sacto.
