Weekend 3 of Zone A

Since I got my deer opening weekend, I went out this last weekend with my friend Mike as his deer dog. First (Saturday Morning), I spotted 3 monster bucks (for A Zone http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif ), but all there antler we covered by the trees and we could not see if they were legal until they started bouncing all over the place. So, Mike did not get a shot off. :nope-blue: So, we went out Saturday night and I spotted two smaller bucks a possible 1x2 (or fork...could not get him to turn its head) and right behind him a large fork. I told Mike that the one in back was his deer, but the smaller deer was blocking the shot. So, we waited. I decided to try to relocate to see if I could get a better look at the possible 1x2. I spooked him and he bolted leaving the forkie exposed. Mike did not miss a beat and took him down instantly. This year has been a good year for us in A Zone. We saw 7 legal bucks and no does, spikes or fawn.

Well this has got to be the worst year in A zone for me. All I saw were about 20 does on private land to top it off (not even legal to shoot of course)!! And that wasn&#39;t until the 3rd day I went out. 1 doe and a fawn together, which I got a pic of I&#39;ll post later. Not one buck!! I ran into a couple of hunters that didn&#39;t see anything either. They did see bears though. Saw a bunch of ground squirrels, fat quail (looked like chickens), and dove.

Hope at least the dove opener goes well.
