Last Friday - So I am sitting on the tarmack at the Oakland Airport after a week long business trip. It was a hectic long week and to prolong my pain, there is another plane using our gate. 20 minutes go by, then I realize, the grand opening for Cabelas at Boom Town was this morning.

I call and make a reservation at Boom Town. I call the wife tell her to get the kids ready.

At 9pm we make the trek.

We arrive and hit the sack.

We wake at 9am. I look out my window and can see the Cabela's lot. It is already over-flowing. The Nevada Highway Patrol was there to direct traffic and alternate parking was set up along the road way. Boom Town was offering free shuttle rides.

We decide to take the kids to the arcade at boom town and play for several hours to let things die down a bit.

We head over at around 2pm. Parking is still packed, but just as we pull in, someone right in front is leaving. We pull into the spot.

We shopped for about 2 hours and still did not see everything. The store is truly large. We picked up several items, duck calls, a quivering duck decoy, beef jerkey and some other stuff.

I was impressed with the lay out of the store. I was not so impressed with the aquarium. It was much smaller than I expected. I also did not find a bargain cave like they have on line and at many of their other stores.

All in all, the store was well stocked, the employees were helpful and I can't wait to go back when it is not so crowded.

We also ate at their grill. It was so-so. Food was cafeteria style so the lines moved fast but the food was luke warm and just ok. Not bad, but not great.

I made the trip to Reno this weekend for some shopping. My wife & I pulled into the Cabela's parking lot @ 10 am on Saturday. I was impressed with the full body mounts located in the middle & back of the store. But, as a whole, I was not thrilled with the actual shopping. Even though the place was not that crowded, it was hard to move around without running into a display or clothing rack. I was hoping to see something new or different, but everything in the store is the same as what can be found on-line or in the catalog.
Later that day I stopped by the Sportsman Warehouse, though the building is smaller, I found several items which were on my "must have" list http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-bag-on-head.gif & dropped about 3 bills on the large selection of new camo & winter ware.
