View Full Version : New CA Gun Law???

While in Turners today, they were talking about a new law coming 01/01/2003. ###This would make nearly EVERYONE have to take a new firearms safety test. ###The test would be necessary for the purchase or transfer of any gun and would be good for only one year. ###The card from the old test would be worthless. ###Hunting licenses would NOT qualify you to purchase a gun. ###Retired military and police would have to take the test as well.
Has anyone heard about this? ###I don't see how this could slip through without someone taking notice.

Yes, you will have to take an initial class to "train you". But hey, it is good for 5 years. As of now there is no set rules for these "classes". Figures, make a law but don't tell the people that will be teaching it how it works.
Then when you buy you're firearm (I think it's only for handguns, but I'm not sure) you will have to show to the pimply faced kid behind the counter you are proficient every time you buy one.
Oh yeah...nobody around here knows what to charge for this class yet either.

Five years and not one year? ###It's sad that I should be happy about that. ###
Errr, how do you show the pimply faced kid behind the counter that you are proficient? ###Can I toss a washer into the air, quickdraw my six-shooter, and shoot out the hole? ###I suppose that might just make it worthwhile.

So, tell me, how do the gum pros, like gunsmiths prove to the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia that they can hanle a firearm???

doghouse95, that's a good question. Since they are only worried about sales to the unwashed, (read that to be collecting another tax from us) I don't think it will matter. They will only be working on the firearm and not buying it so there cannot possibily be any danger.....:nope-blue:

The law is for handgun only. It pass last year just after 9-11 when on one was looking and was slit down the part lines DEMS all for it and the republicans all voted against it.
Welcome to the land of the not so free and brave only if you have a law to protect you from the bad guys.

They could have inacted that law to start in Jan. of this year but the democRATS ###new this was a election year and said lets wait until after the Nov. election, and yes it is for handguns only, next sniper rifles, then hi cap shotguns you know the one's that hold 4 rounds.
MAKE SURE YOU ALL VOTE democRATS IN NOV. :puke-blue:
Also each PD will be incharge of test, so what if they decide to put in a 5K run with obstical course.

So huntducks I take it you don't like democRATS ?
I know the feeling I got sick every time I Billy boy was on TV. I read one time some one put it the Dems like hight taxes high unemployment and have the morals of a thief on drugs who wants it’s next fix.
It's was really funny (NOT) that this was Voted on within a week of 9-11 and it was not even on the ###schedule for a vote that day. We not only go blindsided on this one we got F----ed hard as on one had time to do anything about it.

Isn't it a shame that the policy makers used the confusion of 9-11-01 to further their own agendas? ###Sometimes I'm ashamed to call myself a Californian.

Keep in mind that our idiot Gov. Grey Davis said that he would not sign any new gun laws when he was in about his second year.
Oops....guess that was another lie!!!
Boy, I never saw that one coming...:puke-blue:
