Just wanted to say "thanks" to all who have served and those who are serving now.
I was in the Coast Guard doing search and rescue in Alaska during the Viet Nam War.
Lost 2 high school friends in that stupid war.

Thanks, and I would like to thank you for your service. I was in the Navy I was a Explosive Ordnance Disposal Tech in the first Gulf War. I lost a couple of buddies that were air sea rescue swimmers. UH-2 went down no survivors or bodies. Dec 24, 1990. Buddy just had a baby girl before we left. Lt. committed suicide after spending 25 years in the navy. God bless them, what a waste of life.

I was lucky, they had justed started the "lottery" when I became draft age. My birthday was #272, and they were only expected to go up to 100. Several of my friends weren't so lucky, some didn't return home.
To all who served, i can only say Thank You and God Bless You.

I was number 31 or 13 I'll have to call my brother back East to confirm which one he was and I was.
I hightailed it to the post office in between classes and the Guard was the only recruiter open. They let me pick a date after my first year of college. I was 1 credit short.

My gosh, I'm older than Common Sense. I went into the Navy before the draft lottery program began.

Freedom is a wonderful feeling, but it obviously isnt free. To those with loved ones currently serving, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. God Bless.
