JMO but the deer in the game cam pics doesn't look like the same deer that was killed.

it looks like a main beam from another buck but who knows.

I don't think it's the same buck on the game cam. It's a startling coincidence though. I'm not looking at that as a natural occurrence in the eye either. I think guyintx has it right. Looks like a broken beam from another deer; hence the bloody stump on the end of it, and the fact that it's tapered from the end back toward the deer. If it grew there, it should be larger at the base, and not pointed. Looks like a helluva fight, though; wish I'd seen it.

Man, talk about a battle buck. I agree, it looks like he took an antler into the skull from another buck.
The velvet buck and the (dead) hard horned bucks dont look the same, especially in the brow tine region.
But that is definitely a nice buck! would have been cool to see how that antler carnage happened.

oh nevermind, I just realized the game cam pic is from 2006. But the extra antler does appear as if its from another deer.

The gametrail pix look like the antler is growing out of the eye, but it doesn't appear to be the same deer. I think this brute just took one in the eye while fighting. Awesome trophy though.

Just to clear this up a bit, I am good friends with both the hunter and the taxidermist mounting this buck. The third antler is definately growing out of the deers head. It's not 100% that the game camera photo is the same deer, it was taken the previous year and over 5 miles away.
