What all is needed to build a DVR unit? Does one use a regular DVR and a small board camera? I have several small board cameras, bullet cameras, etc. that I used for suveilance. I thought I might put them to use in a video project since I can't seem to score a video cam with a LANC port.

Hi Steve,

Pixcontroller has in the past offered a limited number of DVR Kits that use a specially designed board, case, and all the wiring and microphones necessary to build the unit. Just add a security camera with IR LED's, a 12v battery, and a Neuros DVR. But, like I said that was a limited offer and no longer available. There may be some guys out there that bought more than one and would be willing to sell their kits. Stop over at the Pix forums and place a post in the Classifieds forum and you might get lucky.

Pix also sells a finished DVREye pkg on their website. But that is a retail item. Don't know if they are ever going to offer the kits again. There were quite a number of builder issues with bad wiring and mis wiring and such that caused a lot of extra time helping guys getting everything to work.

Hope this helps.

I made a remote Deer Spy cam. It is used just for viewing not recording. I used a small spy cam and set it up in a 1020 case and used a DVD portable player in a Pelican 1300 to view live stream deer video.
