Tanning Snake Hides

A friend of mine would like to know how to preserve a rattle snake skin, so that he can put it on his walking stick. ###Any of you have any Ideas or tips on how this can be done?
what kind of chemicals? How long? that sort of stuff. ###Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have used a product called Snaketan, you just wipe it on a few times and thats it, I have noticed that it did darken up a snake skin befor. ###www.snaketan.com ###Best; Bryan
