I just ordered a H&R Survivor series .223http://www.hr1871.com/Firearms/ShotgunsAnd...s/survivor.aspx (http://www.hr1871.com/Firearms/ShotgunsAndRifles/survivor.aspx) what grain .223 should i use?

Depends.
What is the twist rate? What are you going to do with it?
45-55 grain, great for varmints. High quality 55 grain like the trophy bonded bear claw and partition can be used on small deer. 62 grain. Pretty good all around load. 68 grain, match type ammo. 77 grain by Black hills, very good out to about 300 yards, then begins to lose velocity. Very good load for two legged varmints if you have to protect yourself. Must have a fast twist barrel for the heavier bullets.
