National Hunting And Fishing Day Celebration At Wern Valley Sportsmens Club

Free family event open to the public highlights the importance of passing on outdoor traditions

9/11/07

New Berlin, WI - September 10, 2007 - The Sportsman Channel, the first and only television network dedicated exclusively to hunting and fishing programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is hosting a National Hunting and Fishing Day event for southeastern Wisconsin.

WHEN: Saturday, September 22 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

WHERE: Wern Valley Sportsmens Club

S36 W269657 Wern Way

Waukesha, WI 53189

WHAT: The entire event is free and open to the public! Bring one non-perishable food item and receive a FREE Sportsman Channel hat! The event will showcase free fishing, a craft corner and face painting for our youth. Seminars including outdoor cooking demonstrations, hunter safety with the DNR, wilderness survival by the Boy Scouts and dog training by Dale Creek Gundogs will be taking place throughout the day. Also, the United Sportsmen Youth Foundation will be hosting a free clay shooting seminar for children all day. Participants can enter to win prizes throughout the day. Local organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Safari Club International, National Wild Turkey Federation, the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club will be in attendance to bring awareness to their organizations.

WHY: "Our youth's enthusiasm for spending time in the outdoors is diminishing. Our mission is to maintain hunting and fishing traditions," explains Michelle Scheuermann, Director of Communications for The Sportsman Channel. "Becoming the official television sponsor for NHFDay and hosting a local event is just one of the ways we are reaching out to families - and keeping these outdoor traditions alive."

Congress formally appointed the annual observance of National Hunting and Fishing Day in 1972 to commemorate the conservation benefits and leadership of hunters and anglers. The day quickly grew into the most effective grassroots campaign ever undertaken in promoting traditional outdoor sports and conservation.

The Sportsman Channel was launched in 2003 and is presently available in 15 million households nationwide on a full and part-time basis. TSC is the only channel that can deliver 100 percent hunting and fishing programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Recently purchased by InterMedia Outdoors Holdings, TSC is now a part of the nation's largest hunting and fishing media conglomerate and leading content producer.
