What's the big deal? They were only 500 abalone over the season possession limit. They only screwed at least 20 people out of being able to take any home themselves.

Fry them.

The worst part about it is that yeah they caught these guys, but how many more are never caught and how long have they been doing it.

The screwed up thing they all probably got off with a small fine and a slap on the wrist, I get so pissed off when I go diving and my hot spots have been discovered by the Asians, they bring there entire family even ones as young as 5-6 years old and wipe out an entire cove in a day. I have a friend that's a retired DFG officer and the stories he tells me would blow your mind and 75% of the arrests for abalone violations are committed by Asians.

As long as the punishment is basically nothing they will keep on doing it, the fines the DFG imposes can be made up in one day of poaching.

The other thing that blows my mind is the DFG will observe poachers for months and months before arresting anyone, they build a case at the same time these poachers are taking 100's and even 1000's of abalone just to slap them on the wrist.

There is a problem with the urchin boats (asians again) strip mining the ocean floors of abalone and these guys might get 1-2 years in jail and a 50k fine at most.

Punish them correctly and they wont keep doing it.

I have turned poachers in around the Fort Bragg area wherei go and most time it has been a slow response. No only do I hate Ab poachers I hate Deer poachers.
