What to get for P32 and S600 builds!!!!!!!

I have built 2 d360's. Recently I have purchased a P32 and a S600. I will send these to a board sponsor for the hacks but I need the following info (please):

1. What boards do I need? I would like the trail mode. Universal or LE???

2. What cases are the best for these 2 cams???? I would like to build with the pipe through design for locking purposes....

3. I would like to build the P32 in IR and the S600 standard.


4. What other tips or ideas do you have for me???

Thanks for all the past help and hopefully help with these questions.

Both the Uni and LE boards have TM for both cameras. The difference is the Universal&#39;s next timing is 10 secs where the LE jumps to 2 minutes. That may be an issue for you if you want to not use the TM at times.

Both cameras can fit in the 1040(vertical) with a pipe-thru/ Uni board, and battery supply for the board. It does require some dremmeling for sure with the P32 on both sides to allow it to fit. The S600 fits without hardly any dremmeling.

The P32 mod is pretty easy as well is the IR mod. You could do those yourself with a little research and reading. The S600 however is a very fine soldering job and best be done by somebody that is experienced. There are a number of guys that can do that for you.

This is a great charger but I would look for the deal without the 10 AAA&#39;s unless you have a use for them. I think there is one that has 20 AA&#39;s and the charger for the same price. 2600 mAh&#39;s is a really good rating. Excellent choice.

I can post some pictures tomorrow of some of these builds and how they would layout for you. Because the P32 is a bit of tight fit there is nothing wrong with putting it in a vertical 1060 case. I have done them many times and added external power supply to allow the camera to stay in the field longer.

Thanks so much PapaBob. I meant to post the charger with all the AA&#39;s and no AAA&#39;s, I have fat fingers, lol.

I cant wait to see your pics of your set-ups. I will probably send both of the cams off for the hack as I am limited on time! Again, cant wait to see your set ups.

The 360&#39;s were easy but I am fighting with flash bleed and blurring in the corners thanks to my less than perfect drilling jobs.

Looks like I should get the Universal with trail mode.

Have you tried the black frensal lens? Does this affect the camera any?

This camera layout is using a P41 but can be duplicated with P32, S40, and S600.

P41/Pix Universal/Pelican 1040/5-wire servo/Aux. Power/control board power/ and external switch

I don&#39;t think the black fresnel affects the operation but it does make it almost impossible to see the led&#39;s that flash when doing the walk test. You can color the fresnel with a sharpie marker and make it just dark enough that you can still see the led&#39;s.

Papabob and others, thanks for all the replies. Looks like I will be purchasing the univeral boards with Trail Mode and the 1060 cases?? If I use the 1060&#39;s will I have to dremel the cams (P32)? What are the advantages of the 1040 cases and how much dremeling are we talking? You gave me some great examples of builds and all the different things you can do. Do you attach your cams with a python through the eyebolts and laying accross the front?

I will get the batteries from battery space. I am not sure about the external power as I will be checking cams 1 to 2 weeks at a time. If it is easy to utilize the externals, I will. I am so excited.....

When using the Python with the eyebolts you just snake the cable through them and around the front of the case and tighten it up. The design of the setup makes sure that there are no holes in the front where the python cable will be crossing it.

The 1060 does not require any dremmeling at all with any of the cameras. The 1040 can be used with the S600 with no dremmeling at all while the P41 and P32 require different amounts. P32 is the widest. Not bad tho as you just have to work on it a bit and keep checking. I use Liquid Nails 3D camo on my cases so that if I would punch thru a little patch material and you are back in business.

If you use the 1060 you can always add the exteranal power afterwards. You might want to use a 5-wire servo so you have the mod capability for the aux. power in place. If you need I have pics on how to wire the aux. power mod.

Yes, you can use the digitalEye kit for both setups. The P32 will have to be dremmeled out a bit for the 1040 case. You will have to buy a flat flex cable(P32 mod) seperate as that doesn&#39;t come with this kit. Again the mod for the S600 is usually a 4-wire stereo plug thru the tripod hole. Either you will have to get that from DigiKey or Mouse or have someone mod it for you and have them supply the parts. RJLasko does these mods. The aux. power mod on both cameras can be done tho. The P32 will need the 5-wire servo and the S600 will need a 2-wire servo in addition to the stereo plug. You can mod the S600 with a 6-wire servo mounted on the front flat face of the camera. See pic below of the 2 and 6 wire mods. The P32 needs a Flash Enhancing fresnel lens but the S600 only needs the clear glass.

When purchasing the kits you should NOT choose RSS-U but rather Sony DSC-PXX-U(with Trail Mode) and Sony S40/S600(with Trail Mode). Also, choose the Phone Cable as that is the easiest way to connect to the Uni board.

If you want the cams moded for IR then that is a seperate parts and services. Again check with rjlasko or mohican for those services.

I hope this clears up a few issues with your purchase.

If you have rj or dave do your mods I believe they provide for the stereo plug as part of the work. When you order up a Pix board you have the option to order a 2.5 mm cable but it is only a 3 condition cable and can&#39;t be used for a 4-wire modification which I recommend. The focus will be better with the 4-wire mod. The easiest way to connect the cam to the Pix Uni board is thru the Phone cable. This allows you to solder to those wires and not actually have to solder to the board itself which can cause issues depending on your soldering skills. The phone cable can be soldered onto the end of the stereo plug for your camera and then just plugged into the board. The camera then can be unplugged and used for everyday use as well. . . keep it away from the wire or you will be looking all over for it when you want to set the camera out.

I gave my wife a D380 and she has been happy with that one . . . but there have been a few questions about those nice Sony cameras she has been seeing. . . LOL LOL I am going to have to lock them up soon.

Additionally, you can mod the S600 with a 4-wire servo connector rather than the stereo plug. this still allows you to unplug and use for day to day stuff. The plug would be mounted on the face of the camera or the bottom whichever meets your needs in your camera unit layout. See pic below. . . this is a 6-wire servo with the extra two for aux. power connection.
