Well I went out early monday morning to while it was still cool and to strech my legs a bit. My first stand felt real good but zilch. Second stand same thing cept I got a good excuse this time, right about the time I got set up and the caller turned on 2 jets showed up to play tag. The sound was so loud I could hardly hear my call 50 feet away and the jets hung around for about 10 minutes, oh well I got a good show out of it anyways.
My third stand fared much better, I was walking to where I planned on setting up and cought a glimpse of a yote about 200 yards ahead of me. I just sat down on the spot and turned the caller on and 15 seconds into the second sound I was wishing for a shotgun. I had 2 coming in at a fast trot one at 20 yards and one at less than 5 yards, my rifle was already trained in the direction of the closest one so when it busted me and turned and ran I was able to drop it at 25 yards.
On my last stand I added the 20 Ga. to the junk I drag around. My set up was aginst a small group of trees, rifle on the shooting sticks next to me and shotgun across my lap and the caller was 15 yards down wind of me. About 3 sounds in to the set I cought movement to my left and slightly behind me, slowly turning I found a yote trotting in at 15 yards skirting the trees I was up against and looking at the caller. The yote took a load of #1 buck fron the 20 to the front of the chest and face @ 10 yards crumpled and never even flinched. Not a bad morning.

Looks good Richard, nice shooting. All this action everyone has been posting has got me itching to do some calling, I usually don't start up till around late Sept or so but I might have to get out a little early this year. You're calling area looks familiar..I was up fishing Horseshoe meadows a couple weeks ago.

I know them jets are loud, been out there before blowing on the call and have one come over and I cant hear the call anymore lol. They are cool to watch though.

Hey Richard good job buddy..

You need to hide your hotspots a little better in your pictures. Lot's of critters die in that area every year, I'm jealous that you live so close.

Other than making them super edjicated, I doubt showing the background there would do much to ruin his hunting. That valley will never run out of yotes.

I'm not to worried, I could probably hunt the valley every day for months and not hunt the same spot twice. Also oddly enough I've never run into another yote hunter in any of the areas I hunt.

Also a heads up for you guys and gals there seem to to be a higher than normal amount of coyotes up here this year.

Nice going, Richard. Looks like some beautiful country you hunt.

I'm a little disappointed that your story has unleashed the likes of Tawnoper...And here I am with my caller 3,000 miles away in PA...crap!

You know JimT, I was really busy washing the dog, so I couldn't get away to meet all the great people I just knew would be there.

Besides, how would anyone be able to talk smack about Me, Switch and Mike if we were there in person??

If you guys have personal problems you need to take them elsewhere and not air them on this forum.

Ahh yes, numerous yotes in the Owens valley. They seem extremely educated and pressured. But,I have never encountered another hunter. I find it hard to set down the rifle and go chase the browns and smallies in the river.
