After a two year period of very poor halibut fishing, we have been getting good halibut counts in the last month. Between 3 small boats we've landed 4 fish over 30 pounds and another 6 over 20 pounds. In addition many more smaller fish. Hopefully the halibut fishing will return to normal. We have no idea why the halibut fishing has been so poor for so long. There have been a lot of red tide activity in the South Bay primarily and we have had some colder water stretches during this period that may explain some of the reason but not all of it. Any other hardcore halibut fishermen on this forum?
