###I Know D-11 deer are suposed to be of the "California mule deer" variety, but I have seen some resemble both blacktail, and mule deer. I have taken 2 bucks from the eastern part of the zone within 5 miles of each other. One has a very dark coat, dark line down his nose, and light antlers. The other the typical muley tan and white configuration with darker grayish forks. My taxidermist had an old 3x4 that I would have sworn was a regular blacktail with that dark coat and blacktail basket type rack. I believe it was taken in the same general area. Has anybody else seen these genetic combinations in this zone?

Here's some pics of deer near San Dimas. I have seen some deer that have the blacktail traits you describe. I'll see if I can find some pcis of them.

Spectr17, thanks for those pics did you take them with one of those automatic game trail cameras? Do you ever use a doe/fawn call on these deer. I've got one, and I would think this is the right time of year to try it. Does' should be pretty receptive to a lost fawn. Not for hunting of course I just want to get out and look for those big ears peering over the manzanita. I'm dying to get away from the shop and get out among'em. Brian ### ###
