Here's probably a dumb question.
It seems like I've heard some areas referred to as "two deer" zones. ###Is it possible to get two tags in any zones, and how does one go about it? ###I'm sure this info is buried in my regulations booklet, but it's more fun to ask here...and I'm lazy, dangit!

ALMOST ALL A-D ZONES ARE 2 DEER. EXPECT TO PAY MORE FOR YOUR SECOND TAG. YOU ALSO CAN GET AN AO2( SECOND ARCHERY TAG)

Thanks, DS.
I thought I heard something like that about B Zone too? ###I already have B zone as my second deer tag. ###If, for whatever reason I am unsuccessful in the premium tag draw (haven't been notified yet), does this mean I can use my first tag app to get another B zone tag? ###
Anyone?

Yes you can use it to get a b tag. You won't get your second b tag until after a certain date.

Well, Drake Slayer is close. ###You can get two A, B or AO tags anytime. ###For your second C or D tag (using the second deer application), you must wait until September 4th. ###By the 4th, C will be filled and probably one or two D zones. ###A few more will fill on that day because if there are more second deer apps than tags for a specific C, D or G tag they'll have another drawing.

Dang, but I wish I'd known about this before. ###Then again, it probably would've kept me from exploring the A-zone. ###

Speck A zone is too hot for me you can have it. There is a reg we can change. Lets move all the seasons back where we can have some huntin weather. I hate huntin in 100+ degrees. I remember before we had these dumb drawings (guess I am bitter cause I cant get drawn) X-12 used to get some really big deer in the late season when it snowed. Man them were the days. ### ### ### ### Fubar

Fubar,
You know, the only thing I like about that heat in the A-zone is that I almost NEVER saw anyone else on my spots. ###But after last year and a close call with heat stroke when I ran out of water WAY back in there... well, someone else can have it too. ###I'll wait for winter time, and go chase pigs there. ###
Speaking of pigs, anyone braving the heat and chasing our porcine friends these days?

You can actually get 2 x zone tags if you are successful on your 1st choice and then later put in for one of the archery specific zones that do not sell out. ###Two of these are A-17 and A-18. ###I know a couple of people that do this after drawing either A-20 or A 16 as their 1st choice. ###I'm usually on my way to Colorado after the 2nd week in Ca. so I have never done this.....hronk

I have hunted the C zones for years. Take your first deer tag and put in for the zone of your choice. I am a archer first by choice, so, I take my second deer tag and wait until after the drawing process, this year to submit a second tag for a " not filled zone" for say a general season, one must wait until Sept. to submit it. However, because I love to hunt archery in the C-4 zone I only have to wait until July 2 to submit my tag for "any archery specific or additional zone". Usually there are plenty of left over tags for the archery season in C-4 and most will get this as a second tag choice. It has only been about 4 years that we could actually hunt C-4 with two tags, for awhile we had to choose either a general tag for the "gun" season or a archery tag. Of course I chose a archery and did not hunt the general, but not anymore. Hope this helps, good luck, Chuck

DFG will never move the date back for A zone. It would get into the rut of coastal bucks.

Yeah, I knew you archers could get two tags. ###I thought about getting a bow, but even when I had one and shot a lot, I never was consistent enough to be confident shooting at big game. ###Archery takes a commitment of practice time that I just don't have anymore. ###Seems to max me out these days just getting to the rifle range once a month.
Regardless, looks like still no bad news on the premium hunt zones, so it's probably a moot point anyway. ###I'll do one premium zone and my regular B zone hunts. ###Now I've just gotta wait a little more patiently for those elk tags! ###C'mon, DFG! ###
