Met Soreloser for a quick beat the heat morning hunt. First stand we got out of the rig and immediately heard a coyote howling about a half mile from where we were going to do our first stand and Soreloser said, "soon as we finish this stand we'll go over there and kill that dog."
Our first stand was a blank so we headed toward the howler. Set up on a nice high cliff which meant we had the caller right in our lap since there was no easy way down to the bottom. A few minutes into it a dog comes from our extreme left and Soreloser says, "well there he is." Came in on my side so I got the honors.
After that we explored some old mining camp which were very cool (literally and figuratively). The mornings are fun but man the heat comes up fast and hunting is essentially over by 8:00 am. That's about time for three or four really good stands at most.
