According to a University of California study, a Blacktail buck will spend his entire life within a 150-acre area. That means if you junmped a Buck last weekend, there is an excellent chance he will return to the same area within a few hours. For sure, he should be there this weekend when you return.

Hi Whoadog - The study was done at the University of California Field Station at Hopland with radio-collared bucks. The study caught my eye, because I had come to the same conclusion 20 years ago. I gave up on hunting A-Zone, because it's too hot. But, now that I have a 11 year old who will be hunting next year, I'm studying the Blacktails again. A well placed 243 Win will bring down a Blacktail, and that's about what my son can handle. But of course, he has another year to grow.
