I am visiting my folks in Belgrade (Bozeman area) the last week of June, and really want to get out and hunt yotes for a couple days. If any of you JHOers reading the post want to share recommendations for a good area within a couple hours of Belgrade to call in some yotes, please do! Also, I'd be happier hunting with someone than by myself -- and learn more techniques for calling since I'm pretty new to the game -- so let me know if you would let me tag along on one of your hunts. In exchange for the advice I'd be happy to: buy some ice cold beverages, and/or help out with any varmint problems you may have...I am good at solving those type of problems... http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shootin-green.gif

I'd love to help you out. However, I live in NJ and our varmint problem is small compared to the ones you have out west...

My visit coincides with my cross-country move from CA to NJ, as I am starting a new job in NYC in July...not sure how I feel about that... Even if the NJ problem is small, I'm sure I could help out a bit! Is it correct that there are seasons on yotes in NJ, including a special night season during February?

Stealth,

Leaving Santa Barbara for NYC? Man, you better have a great job or the love of your life waiting in New York for you to leave SB. Good luck to you.

On your topic of yote hunting in Montana. There is another JHO guy on the varmit forum who is in Wyoming (I don't recall who he is) and maybe you could hook up with him for a hunt on your way East. If I come upon the name I'll repost on this thread.

One thing for sure is that the Deer hunting will be about a 1,000 times better where you are heading. Not sure where you are planning to live or how far you want to commute, but think NW New Jersey....

Good luck with the new job. There is a lot of public land in WY where you can shoot prairie dogs and coyotes with out a license.

Ha, I know, right? Actually yes...now I just have to figure out how to get both of them back west before the big city drives me insane...I am looking forward to some great archery deer hunts this fall in NJ/PA though.

Thanks again for all the advice so far. Hopefully the MT JHO'er will stumble across the post and I can get in touch with him.

Hey Z71, here is a link that should help. NJ has plenty of deer for ya when you relocate. The problem is finding an area to hunt.
