I'm in the Marine Corps and want to start hunting boar but I have no idea where alot of the places are people talk about. ###I would like to hunt on public land but I might use a guide. ###I also got a bear tag this year and would like information on where a good place would be in S. California. ###Thanks in advance to all that help.

RanchRoper ###Welcome to Jesses Forum. I think the best place to hunt bears in So Cal would be the San Bernardino National Forest. I have never taken a bear there but I called one in to within about 4 feet of me when I was turkey huntin. A couple of my buddies have taken bears there, but if I told where they would skin me. Contact Jim Davis, the DFG biologist for that area. I think his number is in Jesses hunting page. ### ### ### Fubar

You've got a great boar hotspot waiting for you. ###Was reading in California Hog Hunter about the boar hunting at Vanderburg Air Force base. ###It appears to be excellent, with some people shooting several pigs a year. ###Only downside (for me, not you) is that you have to be active or retired military, any branch. ### ###Call the base Game Warden's office (805) 606-6804

Ranchroper,

welcome to our forum, I have a webpage on California hog hunting with info on Fort Hunter Liggett, Camp Roberts and Vandenberg AFB at http://www.jesseshuntingpage.com/calhog.html

For bears the San Bernardino National Forest is some of the best bear country in the USA. Get on the acorns early, the berries late in the year when they ripen.
