Just wondering if anyone here has a spring bear hunt planned? California doesn't have a spring bear hunt so we have to suffer until the fall.

Anyone going north to Canada?

South East Alaska has good spring Bear hunting. It is true that with the current rate of exchange BC rates are hard to compete with. Both SE AK and BC is within driving distance from the West. Flying now-a-days is probably a less expensive means of travel. But a trip up to Prince Rupert or ketchikan via ferry is an experience in itself.

I'm FINALLY going! ###I've been wanting a bear my whole life, granted I'm only 23 but it seems like its taken forever to get the opportunity to go! ###Me, my brother, father, an uncle, my brothers' best friend and my best friend are all going June 9th -16th to a place in Quebec. ###Being guided by Turnpike Outfitters. ###We'll be near the Newfoundland border. ###All hunting with a bow but we'll have guns if we're running out of time. ###Only my uncle has ever killed one before and that was last fall. ###Should be an awesome trip with the hunting and the unbelievable fishing that Canada has to offer! ###I'll report back with pics (hopefully) after the hunt!

Wish they'd switch to Spring Bear here in PA. Everything gets crammed into November. Suppose it won't be long til we can hunt them in the Spring cause they're starting to get out of control - IMO.

May 11-19 peninsula hunt for brown bear like the one pictured above.

May 24-28 for black bears by boat in Prince William Sound.

April through June- bear baiting (unless I get my fill in May.)

Gizz, I agree, spring hunting in PA would be nice! ###I've only managed to make it out the past two seasons, all the rest were during my high school / college days so I had to skip. ###We came close this year though we didn't see any, the tracks were there and during buck season we pushed one out! ###Anyways, where are you from? ###I see "NorthCentral PA". ###I was born and raised just outside of Warren in a little town called Youngsville, now (unfortunatley) I live and work in Erie. ###

Jesse,

I can't wait till April 1st, that is when Black and grizzly(if I get drawn) open. Anyone wants to come up let me know You pay for your accomodations and gas for my truck I can guarantee bears. You have to be able to climb some slides(snow) to (thats were they hang out).

yes... I am finally going to go Bear hunting in June
I have been wanting to a number of years(I'm 54).
My brother-in-law and I signed up for hunt at a place called Ocean Side Country Lodge in Point Leamington, Newfondland in June and I am like a kid waiting for Christmas. I have never hunted outside the SW and it will be a new experence. I have all ready experenced some of the problems of going to a different country to hunt, the Canadians are going through gun registrations and no one in the goverment can give you any info on what guns are legal (I have a match M1a1 but I am not even going to try getting it in).
If anyone knows any thing about this place...please let me know.

My wife said no mor guns....foolish woman
