I'm having problems with the AMS safety slides. Unfortunately I'm using a 70lb compound. After a few shots (5-8) the bumper at the nock becomes loose and I end up losing an arrow. Anyone try or like the cabling or the steel ring setup? I lost three arrows today because of this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Is it just comming loose or pulling out? If it is just comming loose before you put it in put a dab of glue on it and then screw it in. They were not really designed with that much poundage in mind.
Are you shooting a retriver or a spincast? Is the string catching on anything adding extra drag? You may want to consider rings or other methodes of hooking to the arrow.
Need more info.
Lots of opinions on how to hook to an arrow.

I'm using a retriever. The shock/stop is coming loose. There's no way of screwing it back down. Once it comes loose, it won't stay put. I wanted to know if anyone had this problem and the best way of dealing with it. I was thinking about an epoxy. Either way, I want to get the most out of my trips out and only getting a half a dozen to a dozen shots off before losing the arrow sucks.

lose the slides, they suck, and the rings are only a little better.
Go to the fishing tackle store and get some split rings that will fit on your arrow, you wont need the stops anymore, just the screw. you wont find those split rings at walmart either.

So just tie the line off directly to the split ring and the screw is the stop by itself? Do you have any pics of this?

A pack of # 9 split rings worked like a champ!!! I lost one arrow (I don't think I left enough string when I clipped the excess) Four really nice carp all at least two footers. The canals are doing pretty good. East high line had a few near just east of niland where the RR tracks cross the canal. Albright was doing really good. I wouldv'e had a lot more if it wasn't for me shooting over the fish. Looking forward to going out in the next week. I gave a Chinese buddy of mine the carp. I might as well handed him four big porterhouse steaks.

Take at least five turns off your limbs, and try to get it under 60 pounds.
Your gonna loose alot more arrows sticking em in wood on the bottom.

Dont lower your weight, the current in those canals will take your arrow downstream before it can hit the fish.
Sometimes Albright rd has hundreds of carp in each one of those canal sections, its one of my favorite places to bowfish in the valley, but most of the time I just drive down the canal roads and look for the hogs, then its all about "stop-n-pop".

I hate those safety slides the have cost me $$$ in Lost Arrows
The Best is to drill a hole in the top and bottom of arrow and run a steel cable down the lengh of the arrow and crim the end. A couple of beads on the cable and a heavy swivel between the beads. This rig is old school and bullet proof. I havent lost an arrow since I've used this set-up.
Sullys Bowfishing has a kit. You can buy on to see what you need and then go make your own
Ah now what do I do with the 2 dozen arrows and tips I bought
