Of the guys I hunt with we have either the Lightforce 170 or the Brinkmann Big Max. I have both the 12-volt Brinkmann Big Max ($39.95) 400000 cp and the 6-volt portable version the Magnum Max ($89.00 with portable battery and fanny pack).
I use an oatmeal container with the bottom cut out for a shroud on both lights and over the end of that I have a rubber bezel that holds a red filter. Both bezel and filter are sold by Optronics for about $2.00 and $10.00 respectively. With this set up you can slide the bezel and filter off while on an animal if necessary to "burn 'em" with the white light. Usually not necessary but comes in handy when a cat hangs up at 100 or more yards. Also we go to white after the shot and hit to recover the animal easier.
