OK heres my first shot at a homemade e-caller. I used a old electronic dog coller case for the enclosure, Radio Shack amp, speco spc5 speaker wrapped in electrical splicing tape (to dampen the speaker a bit), old Memorex Extream CD player modified to use 4 D cell batteries. As money and time permit I can upgrade to mp3 player, remote, and plug-in charging system.

That is a sweet unit. Thanks for sharing. One of these days I'll find some time to put one together myself.

I hope you don't mind me asking but where did you get your SPC-5 speaker? The only place I can find a good deal on one is Lashen.com but they want $25 minimum order and I don't need anything else and they also want quite a bit for shipping...Is there a place where I can get just that speaker (no minimum order)? Thanks!

Looks sweet. But don't try to sneak that on in your carry on bag at the airport. TSA might have a problem with it. LOL

I just made one of these, all with Radio Shack parts (amp, wires, indoor/outdoor speaker - like the one above) and a $20 Mp3 player and found free mp3 sounds all over the internet. Now I have files with coyote sounds, distress calls, turkey calls, hog sounds (awesome!) and the whole thing cost me around $50 bucks! Not to mention the mp3 player also has a built in radio and stores 400+ songs. I don't really know why anyone would buy an e-call!
By the way, I bought the 16' speaker cord so I can have the controls (mp3 player) in the blind and the decoy/speaker at a distance. I plan on getting another 16' extension...

Hey guys
I'm building one right now from the Radio Shack components and was wondering if that little amp is enough to power the power horn? Is it loud enough?
Thanks
