Is hunting in Mexico worth the trip, or are things too messed up to chance a trip down there?

As long as you go with a reputable outfitter it's worth it. The outfitter will make sure all the proper paper work is done correctly and when I went the outfitter was there to get me through customs.
What are you thinking about huntin?

Just curious about the climate down there right now, but if I were to go it would be to hunt mule down in Sonora.

I hunted in mid Jan. The nights were chilly and the days were mild... up to mid 60's.

I would not go down without people that are familiar with the area and the rules. A couple of people I have hunted with got to spend the night in a Mexican jail a few weeks ago because one of them only brought one of the guns on his permit, but enough shells for both guns.

You need to be able to withstand the numerous military checkpoints and keep your sense of humor. It helps to speak Spanish to communicate with the required guide.

When returning to the U.S., you will have to deal with DFG and USF&W personel that believe you are immoral to hunt in Mexico. It is assumed you are a poacher and treated as a suspect.

Other than that, it is great hunting and lots of fun.

I am new here so say Hey first!

I hunted in Mexico for the first time this year on 11000 acres and want to say it was a blast!

I have guided on our family ranch in the rock spring's area for the last 15 yrs. and been hunting all my life.

This year I started hunting "Horn" so me and my family have so enjoyed going to our lease there--I take all my kido's and have a great time!

We had no problems at ALL with the Border (both ways)and as long as you respect those around you and obey the requirments of gun permits and rounds etc. you will have a great time there!

We don't go to the Bar's and stuff--no need to!--We are there to HUNT!

It was a slow year for All of Mexico across the board this year--about 20" off--The rain hit us at a bad time last year and hope we get it good this year to help out the growth--March April May and I think w/ the protien it will be a Good year comming up!

We put the "Hate on the Eight's" this year and culled out the does and Javies!

If you haven't hunted Mexico I would really sugest it as it is like stepping into a Clen Eastwood movie to us! HA!

Good luck to all!

SWAMPUS!
