I've been working on a real banger. Came on sudden last Wednesday and lasted through till Thursday. I've been feelin' wonky ever since - light sensitivity, dizziness, fatigue. These things suck! I was migraine free for about 4 years and they fired up again about a month ago. Anybody have a miracle cure? I've heard of a natural supplement called Migrelief, anybody ever try it? I'm gonna swing by the pill pusher on the way home and see if I can't score some.

Ask your doc about "topomax." I'm not sure of the spelling, but it's RX only. My daughter takes it to prevent migraines.

I've had them or over 8 years tried a whole lot of drugs w/o relief some darned near killed me & drove me into severe depression(it was depakote used to treat depression)2 bouts of low BP 60/40 knocked me out & 80/60 ,after all failed I was put on Botox injections every 3 months and for an occasional migraine I take 10mg of Maxalt which is a rizatriptan and can cause rebounds.

Go to this website and look at the headache formula. Ive been using the sinus headache for a few weeks and let me tell you this stuff works. I heard about it on the Howard Stern show they advertize all the time on his show. Worked great for me.

About 10 years ago I had a bout with them somewhat frequently. Pain so bad that the only thing that would help at all was soaking my head in a scorching hot shower. I'd lay there and let it pound on my head while I puked from pain for a solid hour or more. Drinking Coffee would sometimes help. I can tell when a migraine is coming on. It starts out different than a typical headache. Just about the time I was ready to go in for a doctor's consult they stopped.
I found something that actually helps curb them when I feel one coming. It's called Goody's Headache Powders. Old time stuff that can be found at Wal-Mart Pharmacy. When you open the box you'd swear it was illegal, about a gram of white powder folded into a little unmarked wax paper envelope. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-oops-yellow.gif It contains Acetaminophen, Aspirin, and Caffeine. Taste like you're chewing an aspirin but if you take it with a chug of juice or something it goes down fine. Because it's powder it goes to work right away.
I haven't had a migraine in a while like I used to though I did get one a few months back. Like usual, it kicked my ass for a whole day (laying in bed in a dark room) and I was in a haze for another day. One thing I can say that only a sufferer can understand; there's no better feeling in the world than when a migraine stops.
I found that chocolate, only when consumed at night time in my case, can be a guaranteed trigger. Ice Cream will sometimes do the same. If I eat either a couple-a-few hours before I go to sleep, I'll actually get one while sleeping. It's like a dream. When I wake up, I'm toast! My brother gets them but his are triggered by light, like a flickering flourescent bulb in an office or if he goes from indoors to the outdoors and encounters bright lite without his sunglasses. My oldest sister has had her fair share as well. 3 out of 7 in my family are affected.

I've had them since i was a teen-ager (long time ago!) They tapered off when I was in my 40's and started back up about 2yrs ago. They are not anywhere as severe as they used to be, although I get them at about 3 month intervals. Ask your Doctor about Zomeg. As soon as my eyes start acting up I take one and get into a dark place and lay down. Most of the time the headache never comes and I have a "hangover" for the rest of the day. Some people do better with Imatrex. If I can take a zomeg within 10 minutes it works better for me. Good Luck....hronk

Everyone who has had a hangover from excessive consumption of intoxicants has had a migraine so comments like I've never had one aren't true unless they're nondrinkers

I don't think I've ever had one so I can't really comment. I am writing these remedies down for my wife though...she's always got a headache!! Starts every day somewhere around 8pm! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-sideways-laff-aqua.gif

I think most migraine sufferers will tell you that their headaches are a hell of a lot worse than a hangover!.....hronk

I don't suffer from migraines, but I have heard a lot of good things about Migrelief. Imitrex, Zomig, Maxalt, Fioricet and Fiorinal seem to be the most popular prescription remedies available, although they work in different ways.
These aren't hangover headaches, these things are debilitating to the folks who get them. Migraines are not pleasant and I feel for you guys.

I used to get them, mostly gone now... Thank God
but I still do get them sometimes, nearly always triggered by a little excess drinking http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-2drunks-singing.gif ...

The alcohol sometriggers a sinus migraine that for me can last days...
I have had many hangovers in my life but they all fall far short of the pain I have felt with migraines. There is a huge difference...
Yeah, I have had migraines. Vision becomes spotty, have to lay down. Not a lot of fun, but have not had one in years, knock on wood. I think I will have a beer to celebrate, lol.

I got a torn up neck playing football in high school and would get them, had to be put on Midrin for a while but that sucked, had to monitor my heart rate like I was dying all the time because it slowed your heart up to eight or so beats a minute and the doc was worried my heart rate was already slow enough that the midrin could cause my heart to stop beating if it got too slow.
I haven't had one in years, I get hangovers every now and then and there is nothing similar about them, except they hurt, migraines are totally dibilitating, a good one would curl me up in the fetal position in the shower for hours, one time mom came in to check on me and the water heater was spitting out straight cold water, I hurt so bad I couldn't tell.
Good luck with them, they suck.

They would get that bad for me too,
I would black out the bathroom as much as I could, crawl into the tub, plug the drain - fill it to the top with hot water (I had a hand held shower head) drape a towel over my head to further black out the light and crack the shower head open on cold (well-water cold) and let it slowly flow over my head.
I would lay there for hours - refilling the tub with hot water as needed. It was one of the few things that helped take the edge off.
I hope things work out for you I really do http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cross-fingers.gif

I've had a few and they suck, but my wife got to spend 6 days in the hospital with one to the tune of $25,000 thank god for good insurance. They put her on imetrex and it seems to head them off at the pass. Best of luck those damn things hurt http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-chainsaw-left.gif

It jsut so happens that I have been fighting mean headache for two days now. I picked up some Goody's Headache Powder, and it took the "kick" out of my headache, but did not eliminate it. Mine are cause by Sinus/Allergy problems, but it felt more like a migraine yesterday.
I've been sleeping next to a humidifier running "full blast" and that has helped tremendously.
It really sucks to be incapacitated by a headache http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shakehead-blue.gif .

For the sinus stuff, I have a busted nasal cavity that I should have the ministers of death fix, but would rather not, I flush mine with saltwater mixture and a plunger thingy that I got for baby stiff, it has a nozzle that fits the nose well and after flushing I can keep the sinus infections at bay that used to get me after each cold.
That might help, it relieves the pressure and gets the junk out.

As soon as I start the spotty vision thing I pop some Alakaseltzers. They kill off the nausea and bring the headache down to bearable. I still have the sensativity to light.
I do get them WAYYY WAYY less now that I stopped drinkin'. Well Ok actually now that I drink LESS http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-2drunks-singing.gif
