Thanks,

I've been using a Primos Ki-Yi w/ pretty good success. Hunting mostly public land from Hollister to Red Bluff.

You can use any rabbit in distress call. Closed reed calls are easier to blow for beginners. I use both open and closed reed calls. I use some of the Sceerey (spelling?) calls, Primos- Randy Anderson calls and the Verminator Tweety.

Arrowslinger...that Ki-Yi should be getting a work out here real quick http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley_git_r_done.gif

Yes, what Mike said... And it would not matter where/what part of the state(s) the calls are used in. You can also check out various brands of calls at "ALLPREDATORCALLS.COM"... a one stop shop!

Good Luck

I have called numerous coyotes in the East Bay area. It is all private land. The trick is to gain access. That takes a lot of knocking on doors. Here is how I do it:

The various calls I carry in my fanny pack are:

1. Diaphragm calls in a 5 call holder
2. Dan Thompson PC-2 Coyote Call
3. Circe Jackrabbit call
4. Circe Cottontail call
5. Dan Thompson Red Desert Howler
6. Dennis Kirk Howler
7. Woods Wise Vari-pitch Howler (it broke and I don't use it anymore)
8. Johnny Stewart PC-1 Vari-pitched call
9. Old wooden deer call (make not known)
10. Burnham Brother's D-4 Deer call
11. My tiny Standard C108A 2M
12. Ham Radio (above the calls) to stay in contact

Good Hunting... from Varmint Al http://www.varmintal.com/coyotel.gif
