I'm feeling the need to tie more flies. ###Is there any interest in starting a second JHO fly swap? ###Is it too soon? ###I would be willing to coordinate it (to give Songdog's wallet a break). ###I was thinking about distributing the flies the first full week of June? ###What do ya'll say?
We'll run this just like we did the last one. ###Everyone will need to make two flies of the same pattern. ###If there are 6 people participating not counting yourself), you'll make 12 flies. ###You'll then mail them to me and I'll distribute them. In the end you'll end up with 2 flies in 6 different patterns. ###

I'm in. ###Let me know if you want specific pattern(s) or another free for all. ###Either way works great here.

I was thinking that we should do another free for all - since summer is just around the corner and it is nice having a variety of different flies for streams, lakes, and reservoirs. ###I've came up with a caddis emerger pattern and an extended body dry fly that is pretty neat. ###
Fishing season (for creeks) doesn't open till May 25th in our neck of the woods, so I have a while to wait till we can hit the creeks. ###Tying flies will help pass the time.

I'm in, Parachute Stimulators all around.

I'll tie a caribou and CDC caddis. ###It's basically an unsinkable version of the classic elk hair caddis. ###If you can sink it, you get your money back.
I'll tie a second if Julie is going for the double again. ###
Love getting those flies in the mail!

Ok, ###this gives me practice tying these flies over & over for you guys. ###I've tied a couple GHRE and could use the practice on a couple more. ###I promise to send the better ones :smile-blue
Hronk,
Midges, ###yeah midges are big around these parts. ###I don't have a problem with midges.
Later,
Todd
Hello All,
I missed out on the first fly swap but would like to join in on this one. ###I'll contribute some Bird's Nests. ###I've had great success with them where ever I go.

Well I'll try for this one also. As soon as we figure out how many and how soon my son(6 yrs old) and I will see if we can't produce enough wooly buggers(variety of colors) and some black ants(haven't had the time or courage to try anything more adventurous yet).
If anybody manages to catch anything on any of these I want a blow by blow description of the action please. It will be nice haveing a variety of choices when I finally manage to find the time to go fishing(darn job).

So far we have 8 people involved in the swap. ###You have till May 6 to sign up. ###These people are going to make the following flies:
Ranchwife (me) - Beaded Caddis Emerger and a Bead-head Flashy Nymph
Songdog - Caribou and CDC Caddis
Hunterbug - Parachute Stimulator
Hronk - midges
Wingman - Nymphs and Hornbergs
ToddP - GHRE (?)
BJS - Birds Nests
Shaman - Buggers and Ants
If you have changed your minds, let me know. ###I would like to get these in the mail to you by June 3, so I would need them by May 27th. ###That gives us 4 weeks to tie all the flies up. ###If you have a small fly box, put your name on it and send it with your flies - I'll send back your new flies in the same box. ###Be sure to include a recipe list with your flies so that others can make them later.

It looks like you all need to tie 14 flies of the same pattern. ###If anyone is finished with their flies, you can go ahead and send them to me. ###Messenger me here for my address. ###If everyone finshes their flies before May 27th, and sends them to me early, I'll send them out early. ###Any questions, let me know.

I have been a tying fool lately. ###The annual fly fishing trip to the Eastern Sierras is this week and I normally tie a box for the three other guys that go. ###Well, this year the number jumped to seven other guys... ###I've tied a couple hundred flies in the last week (which is way more than I normally tie). ###And of course, they all want #24 parachuttes or something like that.
I'll get to these as soon as I get back.
Hronk - any pattern recommendations for the Rock Creek area this week?

Man, talking about getting under the gun. ###I have yet to start. ###With the longer evenings now the "honey do" list keeps getting longer and longer. ###
What I need is a couple days of rain!!!!

Thank you for the kind words. Well, lets see, the ants are just black 6/0 with some red floss and a couple of twists of gray(ish) hackel. The buggers: tail-marabou, body-chennile wrapped with hackel.
