I sang in the church choir as a kid, right up until I hit pooberty and my voice changed to sounding like a frog with a bad cold.
I sang the solos with another girl who had a really beautiful voice. With the big pipe organ in the church you just couldn't help but get goose pimples all over during the Christmas services. The choir was above and behind the congregation in the church. My favorite Christmas song was Gloria in Excelsis Deo. We sang the beginning to the song a cappella and that girl's voice just soared in the church.
What's your favorite Christmas song?

I've been blessed with a gift of oration. I can't sing, but I can put on a James Earl Jones air and really lay out the verse. I've narrated 6 canatas from memory. I tried singing along with the choir, but I had to camo my voice among the others so the audience didn't get up and leave. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-bag-on-head.gif
If I could sing, there's one in particular I'd love to belt out for the Lord. It's got a soothing, prophetic message too:
Mary Did You Know
Mary did you know, that your baby boy
would one day walk on water?
Mary did you know, that your baby boy
would save your sons and daughters?
Did you know, that your baby boy
has come to make you new?
And the Child that you delivered
will soon deliver you.
Mary did you know, that your baby boy
would give sight to the blind man?
Mary did you know, that your baby boy
would calm a storm with His hand?
Did you know, that your baby boy
has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your baby,
you've kissed the face of God?
Mary did you know?
The blind will see, the deaf will hear
the dead will live again!
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak
the praises of The Lamb!
Mary did you know, that your baby boy
is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know, that your baby boy
would one day rule the nations?
Did you know, that your baby boy
was heaven's perfect Lamb?
And the sleeping child you're holding
is the great I Am?
Mary did you know.................

Couple of years ago, the moon was full on or near Christmas. Beings that we had a good coat of snow, it was very bright at night. While driving to the Christmas Eve celebration at the brother-in-law's, I barely needed head lights for the cross country journey. Gifts for the 'lil nieces are in the back, food for the spread is smellin' pretty good and filling the car. Wifey and I are dressed up (we clean up pretty good), and it was a beautiful outing.
As we gawked at the yellow moon rising, the radio starts playing "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby. The velvet voice fills the car, along with the sentiment of the lyrics. This has to be my favorite of the season. Whatever draws your heart to the meaning of the Holiday and thoughts of family/friends, play it often (and listen).

ditto.
"What Child is This"
What child is this, who lays to rest,
On marys lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is christ the king
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring him praise,
The babe, the son of mary.
So bring him incense, gold and myrrh;
Come, peasant king, to own him.
The king of kings salvation brings;
Let loving hearts enthrone him.
This, this is christ the king
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring him praise,
The babe, the son of mary.
This, this is christ the king
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, oh haste to bring him praise,
The babe, the son of mary.
The babe, the son of mary.

A bunch of favorites here. Way too many to list. But my top two, then...
Charlie Pride singing "Oh, Holy Night" is one of my all-time faves. That man had a great voice, on top of the fact that he was (to me) like the Jackie Robinson of country music. (The Southpark version of that song, with Cartman, Kyle, and the cattle prod leaves me in stitches, though.)
I also love David Bowie and Bing Crosby singing "Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth". I remember seeing that on one of those Christmas variety shows as a kid, and it blew me away even then.

I think my favorites are 'O Holy Night' and 'Mary Did you Know'. Each year our little community has a Christmas Eve service after dark. The church is over 100 years old, has no electricity and is heated by a wood stove. The church is lighted with old kerosene lanterns and candles for the service. It always brings goose bumps and a tear to my eye when the congregation sings 'Silent Night' - acapella. You can always feel Christ in that moment - what a way to Praise God!
