Yep, pretty crappy, I had to start from scratch again after my redeployment.
Got a Ruger 10/22 and an Encore this year..............
Now I am getting ready to head back to Iraq again after the New Year so will have to wait again to rebuild my collection.

Buy a steel lock box to keep your weapons in and bolt it in where its not readily accessible.

The guns were locked in a safe...................unfortunatrly in was an inside job as a few members of my family are on the "shadey" side of being dope heads as well.
I will just pay for a year or two storage fees from now one when Uncle Sam send back over the pond.

Sorry to hear of your loss, it's especially depressing (to me) to know that it happened while you were serving our country.

I don't know what the politics in your family are but I have a friend who had a similar situation. His brother-in-law was a tweaker and had a screwed up life. My buddy allowed him to live with them for awhile, hoping the guy would get his life together. One day he comes home to find a bunch of his stuff (including an AK-47) missing. They filed a police report, cops investigated, etc. I don't know how they found out, but they did find that the tweaker bro-in-law was the one that did the deed. Buddy & his wife decided to press charges and the guy got tossed into the pokey for awhile. It ended up being a good thing because he got the monkey off his back and got his act together - he said it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't gone to the slammer.

Good luck getting your gear back and thanks for your service for the USofA. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-ani.gif

mdewitt73,
Real sorry to hear of your loss.
I had the same crap pulled on me by my family (siblings)
When my father passed away back in Pennsylvania.
I had a deal with the wife no firearms in the house till the kids were grown up.
My dope head brother and sisters rand sacked the family gun collection and traded off everything for drugs and cash before I could fly back which was only 2 days.
They took my grandfathers competition army rifle, old black powder 32 caliber pistol, my fathers target 22 pistol my 35 rem Marlin, 7mm mauser, a Rem 760 BDL pump 30.06 with a 3-9x40 Baush and Lomb Scope in hard case an assortment of shotguns 870, a mossberg, parker side by side double 16 gauge, and several others of my fathers. They got all my fathers and my old fishing gear too old mitchell 300's 304's, 308's penn & ocean city reels rods, tackle boxes full of primo old lures etc; from the 40's 50's & 60's.
the only thing I found left was an old bone jig they dropped while clearing the stuff out.
I haven't spoken to them since 1998 and never will again.

I had to start all over too!
I feel your pain.

Do they still sell firearms at the PX?
When I was in the corps back in the early 70's I used to shop Px's and found some pretty good deals also while on base they would store them at the armory. You should check it out to see if they still do that.

Good Luck on your deployment and thank you for your service.

They don't sell guns at all of the PX's. The Navy Exchange in Norfolk quit selling them years ago, but about five miles down the road, the Marine PX still sells them.

No the PX don't sell firearms.......In fact they just recently started selling paintball markers.
Now days the PX sells just as much imported crud as Wal-Mart http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-shakehead-blue.gif
