TScott,
I wouldn't be too unhappy. ###If you read the entire site, you'd see that the situation was a stupid accident caused by a combination of beaurocratic overkill and either an untested screening software or an overzealous employee (I'd lay odds it was a software issue). ###Dell apologized and made a clear statement of the corporate position on firearms ownership. ###
In all, it was a stupid mistake that got blown way out of proportion. ###Mr. Wiegand deserves to be angry at the miscommunication and the way his case was initially handled, but as for any reflection on Dell, I think that's a real stretch. ###
I have spent a lot of years working as a consultant with high tech companies, and this kind of thing is pretty common, especially when you have "emergency" measures implemented without time for proper testing. ###
A good example is the "net nanny" software that a lot of corporations use. ###The intention is right, but the implementation is off the grid. ###

thanks speck, i'm at work and barley read the first letter, should have taken more time and read it all the way through. ###i agree with the net nanny stuff, my former police department now has a version of it and it won't even allow the Police Officers to go to Gun related web sites, go figure.
