I need some feedback here, guys!!

Been looking around some sights and it seems the 10 is a little better than the 45??

Never would of thunk it!! ###Looks like the 10 has better bullet weight options even with hard cast bullets!!

Anyway, any of you guys have or had experience with these calibers??

Need all the input I can get , looks like an upgrade from the 9mm is coming up TOMMOROW!!

Thank ya very much

### ### I am not a big fan of the 10MM, but that may be because I have never owned one. I will say that I have heard from several different sources that the 100MM is an extremely tough round for alot of guns. By that I mean that the power of the round is more then alot of guns can handle. From what I hear it beats up guns preety good. This is just something I have heard, so you probly want to look into it alittle more.
Good luck

the 10mm can be rough on guns. ###the s&w semis and 1911's are the two most common guns. ###Seems though that two guns that handle the 10mm very well though are the wheel gun types and the Glocks. ###I have shot the 10mm in the s&w semi, Glock, wheelgun and sub-machine gun. ###I really like the round for backup carry in the woods and for some defensive carry. ###There is some very good selections for bullet types but if money is a factor you might want to consider the .45acp. ###If you handload then either round is good. ###I prefer the .45acp over the 10mm for defensive purposes against the two legged varmints of the world but the 10mm get's my vote over the .45acp for four legged varmints. ###

I packed nrifenbarks 10mm Colt Gold Cup into the field when I had to go back into a valley to skin a hog at Tejon. ###I fired several rounds into the air when two bulls took a particular interest in me for some reason (perhaps they could smell the blood). ###Anyway, the round produces more muzzel energy than the standard 230gr. .45 ACP, but it does it with a lighter bullet. ###I think it is a sexy round in that it is a bit obsucre, perhaps not to the guys on this site, and it can move out past 1,400 fps. ###If you want to use it for self defense (against people) it is an excellent round. ###For protection in the field, I think it is too light. ###The night I came back from skinning the hog, Jesse, Evenn III, or Hook mentioned that there are bears in the area. ###I felt under protected, and thought that I should have packed sturdier protection. ###To that end, I bought Cor Bon 300 gr. JSP for my Black Hawk. ###The rounds come out of the 4 5/8" barrel at over 1100 fps. ###

For self defense I think it comes doewn to a debate between energy on delivery and bullet diameter. I doubt your target could tell the difference. ###Which one gives you that warm fuzzy feeling. ###I go with the .45.

the 10mm is a good strong round, its more or less a 41mag stuffed into a auto gun, it has (last i heard) 36% more energy than a 45acp.
unfortunately the round is too hot for a auto pistol, most of the gun makers who had it in a auto pistol have dropped it. glock, eaa, (i think S&W) still have it, HK had it in there MP5, but dropped it.
it just beats up the gun too much, now if you reload and down load the round to near 40cal levels then your OK, the gun is really more at home in a revolver, which S&W (maybe taurus) are the only ones who make it in a revolver, the bowling pin shooters have taken a liking to this round.
of course the FBI took notice of this round and used it shortly before finding out that many agents, even men, had trouble handling it, then S&W created the 40cal.
if you reload, and then underload this then your good for an auto pistol, but leave it in a revolver, of course finding factory 10mm and brass is getting harder.
i would NOT feel out gunnned with this caliber even with bears, but i wouldnt carry this caliber for CCW either.
