I got this email recently, maybe someone with a hog can help out. Or just keep this guy in mind on your next hog hunting trip. Thanks.

Greetings. ###I am a shoemaker that makes historical shoes from the 1700's
using methods and tools from the time period. ###I go to historical
reenactments (c. 1750-1780) to sell to reneactors and demonstrate to the
public. ###One tool that is ever a challenge to find, however, is good, stiff
boar bristles about 6"-7" long. ###These are used for stitching leather in
areas that require a flexible "needle."

Do you have, or know of anybody who has, the ability to cull bristles from
your hunts? ###I would be grateful of any assistance you might
lend. ###Merry Christmas, and I hope to hear from you soon. ###I do remain,

Your humble servant,
Brett R. Walker

It might not be authentic but he might try coyote wiskers. ###They're even stronger. ###They also make really durable dry fly bodies.

I may be mistaken but in California it's illegal to sell animal products that are taken with a sport hunting or fishing license. ###Just keep that in mind and be carefull.

I changed the post to not include the selling part, my goof. you can donate the bristles to this guy for no charge.
