I am looking for a on/off road bike. I see Yamaha has some street legal/off road ###(Dual purpose) bikes. It is the TW 200. I looked on Honda's web site. They do have a 650 bike. That is way too much bike for me. Does anybody have any more info on this subject.

I've looked at this issue for years. ###Most serious riders give the dual sports a bad rap. ###They say the bikes are not good as either; dirt or street. ###I think dual sports are great - for what they are designed to do; get you there and back.

An interesting option was written up in the bike section of offroad.com. ###They added a light package to a Honda 500. ###Now the 500 is a great platform to start with. ###Adding the light package not only makes it streetable, but legal on CA forest roads.

I knew a few people with TW200's. ###Those bikes were more leisure trail bikes. ###Not really streetable bikes.

### Honda makes a XR250 Enduro ( dual purpose) great bike, plenty of power and affordable.

Check out the DR 400. Suzuki has a great bike with this one. I have had a DR 350 for about 6 years, been great. I am going to buy the 400 soon. KTM also has some rea

I ride a Kawasaki KLR 650, and I gotta say I really like it. ###I've done straight through from SF to SD on it with minimal pain, and ridden a few dirt roads equally well. ###Since it's my primary commute vehicle, I haven't really taken it off-roading because I don't want to trash it. ###I'm a terrible mechanic, and repairs are expensive. ###On the highway it runs with freeway traffic with no problem... pushing about 5500 to 6000 rpm at 85mph (redline around 7500). ###

For off-roading, the only real drawback of the KLR is that it weights about 300 pounds. ###You won't be pivoting off your foot with this thing. ###But on the other hand, it's solid as you'd ever want, and can handle a decent payload if you pack saddlebags and a backpack over the seat. ###Took it camping out near California City last year, and hoping to make a run to Death Valley in the fall.

I'm no motorcycle expert, but I really enjoy the dual-sport bikes. ###

I will have to look at Honda's website again. I did not find anything streetlegal except for the 650. I am mostly looking for a bike to deer hunt here in California. Not really gonna do much street riding except for something close here to zoom up to work and back. Here in Ca. you nneed a bike to be street legal to drive them off road.
