Since I don't have my book with me at the moment, what is the CBH min on black bear? Can anyone (Ed?) please give me some field judging pointers using this as a benchmark?

16" for CBH
18" for P&Y
Pretty sure..

I can not tell a bears size from his body....just haven't seen enough of'em to tell, but when my bear sat on his butt and was looking at me checking the wind, his ears looked like oreo cookies cut in half. In the future, i'll look for small ears on a big round head.

Bears are tough, for me at least. Look for small looking ears with a big space between them, short looking legs with a belly low to the ground. With the same size bears, a boar will have a bigger skull. Good luck. Ed F

For CBH, does the 60 day drying period still apply?

Yes. AS do you have a green score on your bear yet. That might help SDHNTR out. Length + Width. Ed F
