Input on offroad 4 strokes

I would like to get people's input on recent 4 stroke offerings( ie XR, DR, and KLX). I am going to buy a bike for my 14 year old son and a bike for me. Looking at 200 cc to 450 cc. Thanks in advance. The bikes will ###be used for trail and pleasure riding.
