DOG RULES

1. The dog is not allowed in the house.
2. Okay, the dog is allowed in the house, but only in certain rooms.
3. The dog is allowed in all rooms, but has to stay off the furniture.
4. The dog can get on the old furniture only.
5. Fine, the dog is allowed on all the furniture, but is not allowed to sleep with the humans on the bed.
6. Okay, the dog is allowed on the bed, but only by invitation.
7. The dog can sleep on the bed whenever he wants, but not under the covers.
8. The dog can sleep under the covers by invitation only.
9. The dog can sleep under the covers every night.
10. Humans must ask permission to sleep under the covers with the dog.


The forum was created for hunters who use dogs and hunters who are considering a dog. And for people who don't know if they should chose between a pointing or flushing breed or for someone who dose not know the difference.

Congratulations on the new Forum Topic. I sure like Black Labs. Here is Bart at 7 months. He is the best dog I have ever had. He is now 2-1/2 years old and in his prime. He sure keeps me busy and is a pleasure to have. I think we have drawn the "line" at No. 7 above.

Thanks for getting the Sporting Dog Forum up and running.

My Lab was at #3, until I went from working day shift to night shift. ###Now that I am gone from 6:00pm - 8:00am four days a week, the misses has allowed him to get all the way to #9. ###She says that she is cold and lonely at night. ###Guess the dog is better then other options available for her.

I would also have to say that labs are the #1 breed in SoCal. I have a 10 month old Springer, myself, and even though he comes from show lines, he is a joy in the field even at this young of an age. I would love to post his picture, but I can't seem to be able to. Any instructions? Also, thanks for starting the new topic. It should be fun.

Congrats on the new forum, guys! I'm going to avoid getting into dog vs dog discussions, tho I've got my druthers, like anyone else. Right now, I'm the proud owner of 4 mutts (1 of which hunts), and 1 still lost or stolen (sniff), britt, that flew out over a 6 foot chain link to hunt alone, before I set up the property with an E-fence. Can't seem to convince the wife that a 5th dog is a commodity that we just can't get along without...

I have been trained by my two black labs to allow them to get up to # 9, but I'll be danged if I'm going to ask for permission to sleep in my own bed under the covers!! hehe
