Brittanies are the dog for me. ###I love their size, energy and style. ###I have a two year old Brittany that is my first pointing dog. ###This season was his first after being professionally trained, and man is it a thrill to watch him point. ###I couldn't imagine chasing upland game birds without him again. ###These dogs are just too much fun to watch.

What pointing breed is your choice and why?

###I am sure everybody is getting tired of hearing how much I enjoy my llewellins but they have given me so many good days in the field, as well as winning me some money. ###They are also as good as family pets as they are in the field.

I'm in the process of getting one and it will most likely be a Llewellin.

David,

A buddy of mine is thinking about getting a Brit. He went on a hunting trip with a friend of his and he was amazed on their stamina and their ability to please. I was wondering if they are good retrievers. Are they high Maintenance?

I've hunted behind a buddy's English Pointer and he's awesome on the upland. Completely tireless and birdy as heck. Apparently he'll even retrieve waterfowl. He's also got a Viszla he swears by, but I've never had the pleasure. Right now he's crossing ###the two and another ###buddy is taking one of the puppies. Can't wait to see how this one hunts.

So far my Britts been really easy to have around. ###He's great with my kids and their friends, very protective and easy to train. ###Mine is very confident and bold, but I have heard they can be a little soft at times. ###Maybe its how you raise them. ###As far as the field goes, he'll run as long as you can hike. ###This year he's learned alot as I have abount dog and bird work. ###I think in the next season or two, he'll really come into his own. ###If you friend would like any help locating a quality dog, I'ld be happy to help. ###I can also point (no pun intended) him in the direction of an excellent training website. ###

Qbn Hunter,
My Britt and my friends Britts all retrieve upland birds as well as my Chessie. She gets a little restless ###in a duck blind(Chessie only now in the blind).

GSP's for me. ###So far she has pointed, pheasants, sharps, huns, chuckar, ruffed, woodcock, bobs, and valley quail. ###She retrieves ducks and with a little coaxing geese. ###She has turned out to be an unbelievable pheasant dog. ###I would called that versatile.

German Shorthaired Pointer for me. ###I have hunted behind some other breeds but that is the most well suited breed for me. ###My dog was a natural honor and pointing dog, will swim out in the water after dead birds, will every once in a while catch a live bird, follows hand signals well with not much training. ###I am NOT a trainer and he has done almost everything but put the dead bird in my hand. ###Fastly closing in to the end of the 4th season and that dog still amazes me at times.

The first two years hunting over my Britt he would not retrieve. ###Then out of the blue a light came on in his head and now he will retrieve everthing but doves. ###I love my Britt and will definitley recommend them. ### ###
