My chocolate lab, Aspen, is going through some tough times. Yesterday I was throwing her bumper, she loves to retrieve it. She has a tendency of picking up the bumper without stopping. During one of those retrieves she turned to pick-up the bumper without stopping and she let-out the most god-awful scream that I have ever heard. Her hind legs were paralyzed. I rushed her to the vet and she referred me to All-Care Animal Referral Center. The specalist, as I write this is performing an MRI on her. Yesterday the doctor said that she has a 60-80% chance that she can recover. She has some feeling in her back legs ,so thats a good sign. Well I keep you'll informed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and aspen.
There is nothing wrong with asking for prayer for an animal, especially when they are a member of the family.

Thanks guys for your prayer and thoughts,
apen went through an MRI. According to the vet there was bleeding form a vessel in the spinal cord. He said that it has stopped. She will not need an operation. He said that nature needs to take its course. The chances of her walking is about the same as yesterday. I am going to go see her later on today.

I feel for you QBN. About a month ago I found a lump on my 9 yr old Lab. I couldn't get her into the vet for a week, and that week of not knowing about killed me. Fortunately it was just a fatty tumor, which the vet said are fairly common in Labs. Best wishes for you and your Lab!!!!! ### ### ### ### ### ### ### ###Scott

I spoke to her doctor today. He said the chanes for her to walk are a little better. He tried to stand her up and her right back leg was in trying to walk. The doctor said that she has more tone in hind legs. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I just got off the phone with the doctor. She's able to walk with her right hind-leg but, nothing yet with her left leg. The docotor dais tat she has good tone on her left leg, when the doctor pushes on her left leg she pushes back. ###I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I spoke to the doctor today. Aspen is getting up on all four legs! She's making a stepping motion with her left leg. People thought she was spoiled before just wait when she gets back!

Aspen is coming home!!! Thanks guys for your prayers and thoughts. I spoke to the Doc today and she is making a walking motion with her left leg. She is getting up and sitting down like nothing now. So, hopefully I can get her home by this weekend. It was expensive; I might not be able to go to too many hunting trips this year but it was well worth it.
