I have eaten way too many MRE's but never a civilian one, and don't know which ones to get, I know Jesse carries some in the store here, but who has eaten what brand, and where did you get it?

bearclaw,
Any surplus store or outdoor mail order supplier can get them for you. I see them at some very surprising places...

A big part of what I am trying to figure out is which ones, I have only eaten the ones that were issued to me, other than the Vietnam era ones granddad used to give us.
thanks guys

The best thing about MRE's is that if you eat them you don't need to pack TP with you. You won't be pinching a loaf for days.

I used to drop the cookies all the time eating them, though I would describe that part of my biological design as, frequent anyway.
So no one has a preference to which brand?

I've eaten the Sopakco and Wornick both and they are light years better than the old MREs they feed us in the military in the 80s.
That website pretty well covers the differences in the two civilian versions. It all comes down to what menus you like or what side dishes you like. With Sopakco you get more choices.
We try and match our Sopakco meals with what the customer wants. We sell them in a 6 meal or 12 meal box.

I just talked to another distributor we have and they have the real G.I. Issue MREs we can get now. They come with the flameless heaters too and other goodies like gum which the civilian Sopakco version doesn't have. Better price too. $10 cheaper than the Sopakco. $59.95 for a 12 pack
