DENVER, COLO. (July 6, 2006) – The most influential, most beloved, and most dynamic companies in the fly fishing world are headed to Colorado for the 9th annual FlyFishing Retailer World Trade Expo.

Scheduled for August 24-26 at the Colorado Convention Center, this closed-door event is open only to the media and the hundreds of companies that comprise an industry built on a simple but powerful premise -- tricking a fish into taking a fly.

"The passion and staying power of the fly-fishing world is remarkable," said Peter Devin, FlyFishing Retailer World Trade Expo Group Show Director. "The longevity of fly fishing, and its ability to captivate and compel a community year after year, makes this one of the most noteworthy and special events of the angling year."

As the biggest event on the fly fishing industry's calendar, the Expo serves as ground zero for the launch of dozens of breakthrough concepts and hundreds of innovative products. It also provides a festival atmosphere full of unparalleled business and educational opportunities.

A sampling of what's on tap at FlyFishing Retailer 2006 includes:

New Product Showcase: Spotlighting all the latest gear in a single location, this show floor exhibition provides show attendees with a quick and easy way to identify trends and rising stars in the sport.

Hands-On Casting Ponds: Three large casting pond test areas – including a dedicated Spey casting pond – allow show goers to make full size casts with the latest rods, reels, and lines.

All-Industry Gatherings: On the morning of Day One, the industry will gather for the FlyFishing Retailer Industry Breakfast, featuring keynote speaker Ned Crowley, Director of Plus Four International. On Day Two, the fourth annual FlyFishing Summit will feature trends, issues and challenges facing the industry.

Smart Business Seminars: A series of one-of-a-kind educational seminars will be hosted throughout the event, including a full-day "Fly Shop University," hosted by the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA). Other one-hour seminars include critically relevant business topics such as how to teach the art of fly fishing, rising trends in the marketplace, customer outreach, and more.

Casting Competition: For the third year, the Orvis-Saltwater Fly Fishing Magazine Casting Cup will feature some of the best fly casters in the world, all vying for a cash prize to be donated to the conservation organization or project of their choice. Participation in this event is open to all attendees and exhibitors of the show, except for employees of the competition's sponsors, The Orvis Company and Morris Communications.

Relaxing Interaction: FFR always includes a number of exciting and intriguing social events, such as the annual Industry Party sponsored by William Joseph (Thursday, August 24).
