I received a Magellan Meridian Gold GPS receiver as a bonus for doing a good job on a recent design project at work.

I have always wanted a GPS receiver but I don't know much about them. ###Any comments out there? ###My owners manual is 80 pages and it seems that this thing will do everything but fry my eggs in the morning.

My boss (he purchased it for me) said that the sales person at Bass Pro Shop recommended this one over the Garmin Etrex brand. ###Any idea why?

Got me, my eTrex fries eggs :smile-big-blue:

Not familiar with that one. ###To me.. I'm not that particular in some of my equipment. ###My eTrex has done the job and I have no complaints.

Bald Eagle ,

you will like the merigold as it is called and it is a pretty good unit from what ###i know of them

the most likely reason for the salesperson from the bass pro shops to recommend the merigold over the etrex is that the magellan gold has a lot better antenna for better reception plus it also has the option of installing more memory for mapping capabilities .

here is a good review from joe mehaffey

good luck on your ventures
