Does anyone here have the Foxfire series of books. I was in used bookstore the other day and came across them. Seems pretty interesting. All kinds of information on country living from what I gathered they are based out of Appalachia.

Every time I see a Foxfire book I see red. ###I had a very extensive collection of them in a heavy cardboard box in "my" corner of the basement. ###I would look at them many times a year and add to them whenever I could. ###Two years ago we had a freak storm and flood in our basement and the water was about 10" deep. ###All of my Foxfire books were thrown out by some of the neighborhood volunteers in the clean-up effort. ###I just love the Foxfire series. ###I had planned to take them out to my hunting shack for the guys to read on their hunting trips. ###Bo-Hoo, Bo-Hoo.

I just saw a row of those in a used bookstore, too. ###You weren't in Camelot over by Turner's were you?

Those are a good books. ###I remeber having a couple when I was in high school and really enjoyed them. ###I'd love to get a set now.

I'm terrible for stating the obvious, but you can get the Foxfire collection via Amazon.com. ###The first book, in paperback, is about $12. ###

They are a great resource for just about anything from folk art to outdoor survival. ###

Jim, check out a local used book store. The books are probably cheaper and you'll be supporting a local business.

Dont mean to bring up an old topic but those are some good books. A buddy of mine in High school turned me on to them.......some very good reading indeed.

I think I'll have to find a set now http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-biggrin-aqua.gif

Thanks for reminding me of them karstic!! I probally could have used some info out of them this past week. We were out of power for 4 days because of a major ice storm here in the Carolinas. It was cold and dark http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/afraid_face.gif

Hope things have warmed up for you a bit. I find books about folk ways and outdoor lore very interesting. Its amazing how in our modern society some of those old ways may come in handy and still be useful.
