SS-

Thanks for the invite. Kind of crazy day for me with the wife coming home after her trip over the weekend. Sounds like it would have beena a great memerial day party!! I would love to come up for a bite and pool game soon. Give me a hollar if your free at all this week. I will be up at the range practicing for Nevada City. Maybe one night after practice I can bomb over to the house and try to beat the pool shark.

Oh YA!!
Welcome to JHO!!!

Well Tar,
I kept an eye out for a bunch of bowhunters there on Saturday and Sunday and I was hoping to run into you. I had my JHO shirt on hoping you would catch sight of me. Hopefully we can meet in the future at another 3-d event.

What a shoot! This truly is my favorite shoot. The beauty of Nevada City walking between targets is breath taking. This marked 3-D shoot consists of 2 arrows per target and scores 11-10-8. Distances include 92 yards to 4 yards. The bowhunter team event is like a best ball scoring round. High score applies to our team score.
This year we did it! We knocked down the last two year champions by two points.
Day one was a 1-3 point roller coaster between us and the champions. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cross-fingers.gif We actually passed them at one point and took the lead for several targets and lost the lead just as quick. At the end of day one, my partner and I were down two points and were mentally exhausted. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/afraid_face.gif I was not shooting my potential and my partner and I relied heavily on each other to cover each other when we had a not so good target. One of my highlights was drilling a 79 yard target for 22 points. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-eatin-popcorn.gif

On Day two, I became alive! I hit the 79 yard target again for 22 points. I also hit the 74 yard target for 22. I had a couple of glance outs when I hit my own nock in some of the close targets and my partner was right there to make my 21’s into 22’s. It was exciting. Half way through the 2nd day we were up 4 points and by the end of the tournament we finished 2 points ahead. Not only did we win money for the bowhunter freestyle team event but more importantly we one the coveted Nevada City Belt championship buckles. I took 3rd place in the individual money round, my partner 4th. But since we complimented each other scores so well we beat the 1st and 2nd individual champs in the team event which is a much bigger deal.
If you guys have a weekend to spare and want to shoot in a phenominal place with excellent quality targets come out and see what you’re missing, you won’t regret it. Mathews Pro Staff Frank Pearson had a free seminar one night, steak dinners, fellowship, weather, etc. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbs-up-ani.gif

Special thanks to SS for some last minute pointers for long distance shooting. Another note that made this interesting, my partner and I talked all week before the shoot everyday about if we were going to go or not due to incinsistant shooting and bad practices. Sometimes you just have to go through with it and believe.. Prayer helps too!! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley_prayin_ani.gif http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley-wnk-yellow.gif

Hey in2 I guess I was there and probably saw you I shot int the freestyle money and as a team my partner and I did not do so well but I did take first in the individual amateur money so I did shoot my best scores up to this point. That is to bad we did not meet up our club had some guys in the BHFS money shoot as well. I probably saw you at the lawn area when they were handing out money. Well are you headed to Cougar Mountain I will be there with a bunch from our club.

Congrats on your individual shooting Tar!
I am unsure about the Cougar Mountain Shoot. This weekend is the State Field so, I probably will give it a whirl. After state, I am taking my bow apart. I have something going on with one of my limbs, going to check it out further when I have more time.

Jason and Jason from Hawaii are my good friends. They have won the tournament two years in a row, 2004 & 2005. In 2004, my partner and I lost to them by one point.

This year (2006) they took 1st and 2nd in the individual money event. I placed 3rd.
They also placed 2nd in the team event.

My partner Rob and I beat them this year in the team event. With our combined team score of 1522 we beat team Hawaii with their team score of 1520.

I thought it could have been announced a little more clearly when we both went up to collect our cash envelopes.

Thanks in2, Are you shooting an apex and if so how do you like it. I am planning on getting a target bow soon since all I have right now is my hunting/target bow but I did just order a new Switchback for hunting so that I will have a backup for Idaho this year but for targets I was thinking Apex7 what do you shoot??

in2blacktail
06-06-2006, 12:31 PM
I shoot the switchback for hunting and love it.
I am currently shooting my Apex 7 for target and enjoy it. Right after switching to the Apex 7 from my conquest 3, I was already cranking out my average and above my average scores during practice sessions. I need more time behind it for a thorough opinion but right out of the box its a gem. http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbs-up-ani.gif I was actually entertaining the idea of buying another Apex 7 for hunting, but the switchback shoots so nice, kind of hard to justify.

The state on the frist day is 28 target field round and a 28 targert animal round. The animal is simple you just have to set your site right each time. Then the next day is a 28 target hunter round. Lots of shooting.

I was at the Nevada county sportsmen shoot. My first time. On Saturday I shot one of my best performances on 41 of the 42 targets. Unfortunately, I had a brain fart on the 92 yard bear and stacked him to low on the first shot, and too high on the second shot. (for a big Fat ZERO)

But I am consoling myself in the fact that it was my second big competition shoot, and I'm just shooting against myself.

So I wanna meet up with the other JHO members at Cougar Mountain...
