Off and running.....
I got a late August gator permit for the St Johns River. Nice and early. A great way to get the season rolling.

That's way cool, Buck-eye! Take lots of pix...or better yet, get some video!

Cool! What weapon?
Late August in a Florida swamp sure sounds refreshing!

That's what I was thinking SD. Those MS tags looked inviting until I saw the dates. You get to survive suffacation in that humidity

Well there is good and bad news to the hunt. Good is it is from dusk til dawn, so at least heat will not be as bad. Bad news is Skeeters, and more Skeeters. Id probably be better of just going and getting a leeching with all the blood loss. Ive thought long and hard about weapon choice Nate. I am going to go with a crossbow with a gator gett'r. I have caught several gators on my bass rig believe it or not. And I do not want to alter either bow set up with a fishing rig, when there is a chance I will be moving to less bowfishing friendly areas. Gun is illegal cause gators sink when they are hit.

Buck-Eye. The skeeters in FLA can't be any worse than they are in the swamps along the coastal savannah river area swamps where we hunted gators. They really weren't a problem however since the boat is moving along pretty good on the trolling motor while hunting and when you're coming in for the shot the skeeters are the last thing on your mind. We did, however, keep a thermacell handy.
