Years ago in Southeast Alaska the Fisheries people had a problem keeping commercial fishing boats from setting their nets at the mouths of streams. The solution was to hire stream watchers who would camp out by the mouth of the streams and write down the numbers of the boats and take pictures of any violators. Camps were set up and they were relieved after a week.
A young college student was dropped off at a spot and the plane left him. That night a brown bear stuck it's head into his tent and the college student shot the bear in the head killing it. All that week the kid climbed in and out of the tent over the brown bear which didn't smell all that good to begin with but was decaying more each day as the week wore on. The constant rain of Southeast Alaska didn't help matters much, either.
Finally, the plane arrived with the kid's replacement. When the fisheries folks got to the camp and saw what had happened one of the older guys asked the kid why he kept climbing over the stinking bear. The kid replied that the bear was too heavy to move. The fisheries guy asked the kid..."Why didn't you just move the tent?"
The answer?........"Duh....I didn't think of that!"
