On that model of Jeep Cherokee the air intake is behind the headlight. Basically, what happened was when I realized that the Naci was deeper that I expected I tried to power my way through. Well, that pushed the water up higher into my air intake. The engine locked up, and only after I got it home and removed the spark plugs would the engine crank again. The oil was mixed with water also, so I had to take care of that also. Getting the engine going again wasn't too bad, but drying the carpeting took a couple of months. I ended up removing the seats and center counsel to get the carpet out of there to dry. If I had it to do over, I would have taken the carpet out in the beginning, rather than wait until it got sour.
When I complained to the Verison Store about the GPS Phone only going to an address, they told me to set it to "Pedestrian Mode". Changing the Navigation mode on the Verison is hard to do on the fly. The minus is not up front where it is easy to find, and I need my college student to change it for me. It's not practical to leave the phone in Pedestrian Mode all the time, because the real advantage of the GPS Phone is to use it as the Yellow Pages for shopping, or making hotel reservations. Or, just to find the nearest IN-N-OUT while returning home from hunting.
Now that I have been using the GPS Phone for 3 months, I couldn't live without it.
Attached is a picture of my wife's drowned Cherokee in the Naciememto River at FHL.

This is how my boy explained it:
Goto Navigation Options, then Preferences, then Navigation, then Trip Settings, then Vehicle Type:
The options are:
1. Car/Mototcycle
2. Truck
3. Bicycle
4. Pedestrian
I have not tried it out in the wilderness yet, so Good luck;
Forgot to mention that I had to buy a new Starter for the Jeep, becasue something shorted-out inside. Also, to load the Cherokee onto the rented Auto Transport Trailer, a second vehicle with a combination of several tow straps was needed. The second vehicle was located ahead of the tow vehicle with the long tow strap going under it and over the top of the transport trailer. To hook onto the Jeep front axle.
