Cobra FRS-120-2Cobra FRS-120 Radio

         Options and Accessories:

Some other notes .... This radio was introduced in the summer of 2001. This is a low budget entry level radio. With no Private Channel codes this radio has no way to block another user's conversations in your area. No water resistance is not good if used around wet environments. The channel buttons have been moved to the front of the radio instead of the older Cobra radio design on the side of the radio, which caused accidental button operation when handling the radio. On/off switch is now on top and is a rotary switch instead of the front button on older units you held down for 3 seconds to turn the radio on.

One big problem with this radio is "Roger Beep" CANNOT be turned off. Major pain in the butt to hear the beep every time someone talks.

Cobra FRS 110-2Cobra FRS-110-2 Radio

         Options and Accessories:

Some other notes .... This is an entry level FRS radio with just the basic features. No PL privacy codes will allow you to hear other people on your channel that are not part of your group without being able to block their conversations out.

This unit fits nicely in your hand or shirt pocket. One problem using this radio is when picking it up, you can accidentally hit the "Call" button on the side of the radio and send unwanted calls. Bad location for the "Call" button. 2nd big problem with this radio is "Roger Beep" CANNOT be turned off. Major pain in the butt to hear the beep every time someone talks. Some have also complained that on/off button is too easy to turn on while radio is in a pack and the supplied radio holster doesn't hold the radio tight enough and it pops out too easily.

User manual was easy to read and figure out all the functions of the radio.

This unit fits nicely in your hand or shirt pocket. One problem using this radio is when picking it up, you can accidentally hit the "Call" button on the side of the radio and send unwanted calls. Cobra FRS 310WXCobra FRS-310WX Radio

         Options and Accessories:

Some other notes .... A small but durable handheld. Extremely hard to open battery cover.  Received sound is good, buttons are easy to use except with gloves. The power/volume control knob lacks a mark or notch to indicate volume position. Lots of extra features like the vibrate alert, weather channels, channel/PL scan, and voice scramble are worth the extra bucks.

One big problem with this radio is the "Roger Beep" CANNOT be turned off. Major pain in the butt to hear the beep every time someone talks.

Cobra microTALK 1 FRS-100

Cobra Microtalk FRS-100 Radio

          Options and Accessories:

Accessory prices quoted from Bill's 2 Way  except as noted.

Some other notes .... A basic, cheap in price, small but durable handheld. Extremely hard to open battery cover. The lack of PL codes will be annoying by letting you hear other user come through on your channel. The two position sliding channel switch is handy, but can be accidentally moved, causing missed calls. Received sound is good, buttons are easy to use except with gloves. The power/volume control knob lacks a mark or notch to indicate volume position.

Cobra microTALK 3 FRS-300

Cobra Microtalk FRS-300 Radio

     Options and Accessories:

Accessory prices quoted from Bill's 2 Way  except as noted.

Some other notes .... A small but durable handheld. Extremely hard to open battery cover.  Received sound is good, buttons are easy to use except with gloves. The power/volume control knob lacks a mark or notch to indicate volume position. Lots of extra features like the vibrate alert and voice scramble are worth the extra bucks.

User Reviews .... I have a pair of the Cobra MicroTalk 3's with the vibrate/silent call feature. They worked great for hunting this fall. I communicated with my brother at several hundred yards through the woods with no problem. I have no idea as to the range capability of these. I've used them on a 1000 yd rifle range with no problem whatsoever. I had a pair of the Motorola 2 watt radios and they were battery eatin' SOB's. The distance on these was not nearly as good as what I expected. Also, I had a battery contact repaired and they charged me $80/hr labor!! Motorola can kiss my grits. If one of my Cobra's goes TU, I can nearly replace it for one hour labor to repair the Motorola's. Check the features on the Micro-Talk 3's and they beat anything Motorola can offer. Grant in Wisconsin.
